Simon Fraser University (SFU) and the CIO Association of Canada (CIOCAN) announced a new milestone for the Technology Leadership Program (TLP), celebrating its impact since 2008 and welcoming it into SFU’s Digital Innovation and Leadership (DIAL) initiative.

Known for shaping the careers of technology leaders across Canada, the TLP delivers a powerful combination of strategic leadership development, technical expertise, and a supportive network of peers and mentors. In collaboration with CIOCAN, the program has prepared hundreds of experienced professionals to step into executive IT roles, equipping them to navigate complex digital landscapes and drive meaningful change.

Over the past 17 years, TLP has built a strong reputation for blending academic rigor with practical mentorship. Participants—from seasoned IT managers to aspiring Chief Information Officers—engage in intensive leadership development while exchanging insights with industry mentors and peers. Alumni credit the program with sharpening their strategic thinking, change leadership skills, and professional networks. Graduates may also qualify for CIOCAN membership, unlocking access to exclusive events, thought-leadership resources, and ongoing mentorship.

As part of SFU’s DIAL consortium, the Technology Leadership Program gains expanded visibility and bridges two powerful communities. DIAL unites academic, industry, and government partners devoted to digital innovation leadership. Through this alignment, eligible participants have the opportunity to become members of both Canada’s premier CIO network and DIAL’s circle of digital leaders—an inspiring dual community that fuels collaboration and keeps them at the forefront of tomorrow’s challenges.
